The Paint Colors of Our Home

We have painted about half of the rooms in our house so far. I have so many decor changes planned for these rooms (stay tuned!), but I thought I’d go ahead and share our painting progress.

Our recently updated half bath (more details here)

The living room (with our new french door), entry (with our new front door), and kitchen are all the same color, Sherwin Williams Ramie.

All trim and doors are Sherwin Williams Alabaster.

The dining room is the next room on the list, and now I’m going to show you my slightly color obsessed side. I tried every blue/gray sample that we owned on the dining room walls in case one looked different in the dining room lighting than it did in other rooms. I like to do samples up against white because I find it easier to visualize how the color will look, so I painted the samples against the existing white chair rail molding. If I really like a color, I paint another large sample in a corner because light hits each wall differently, so the corner gives me an even better idea of how it will look.

I told you I was color obsessed. I think we’re going to go with Benjamin Moore Iced Marble.

So far in the rooms we have painted, I have changed my mind on the color every single time from what I thought I we would use based on the paint swatches vs. what I decided after sampling, so I highly recommend springing for the paint sample before committing.

Still left to paint are the dining room, laundry room, two extra bedrooms, and two full baths, both of which need to be completely gutted.

And now I will leave you with a picture of my ever growing collection of beloved paint samples.

Fantasticly written article, if all bloggers offered a similar information as you, the web would have been a much better place.

I currently have a sample of comfort gray up on my wall but was hoping for something with just a tad more green…I was thinking of trying austere gray. What did you think the difference between those two colors were? Do you have a better suggestion? Thanks!
