After a year and a half, it was great to finally put the first holes in our living rooms walls (actually we put way more than we intended), and in our round about way, ended up with this gallery wall:

For weeks we had every frame in our house laid out in various configurations on our living room floor. That still didn’t keep us from deciding on an arrangement, hanging it all up, taking one look at it, and not liking it. I forgot to snap a picture, but the first configuration had two different ledges with pictures propped on them and 5 frames hung on the wall – that’s a lot of holes. Taking all of it down and seeing all those holes was frustrating, but luckily this new configuration covers all but two of the holes. One of these days we might get around to patching up the two that still show, but I suspect we’ll forget they are even there.
The prints are from the New York Public Library Digital Gallery. They were originally in our dining room:

but I wasn’t loving the way they looked in there. I am liking them in the living room, though. I really like the mix of colors with our throw pillows and area rug. It is a simpler arrangement than I was originally going for, but I found using more frames looked too busy.

Since these were free to print, they will likely change one of these days, but for now I think they will stay. And since I stole them out of our dining room frames, I will be searching for new prints in there and will of course be sharing when I find them.
Also, don’t forget to check out our inspiration galleries! They include LOTS of home decor images submitted by readers like you! Browse by room type, room color and check out the gallery of painted and refinished furniture, or you can search by paint color, room type, blog name, or any combo of these. Make sure to check out the image descriptions – many include the name of the paint color and a link back to the owner’s blog where you can see more details about their rooms.

My coder is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on various websites for about a year and am worried about switching to another platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for sharing! Fantastic living room, I can’t wait to view others such as this. I’m trying to gather some inspiration for our living room furniture. We are looking at buying furniture from http://www.la-z-boy.com/orlando/ as we enjoy the quality and comfort of la-z-boy furniture. I think we can get away with a very contemporary look.
I really love your gallery, and I particularly like the prints you selected. Do you happen to remember the names of the prints. I would love to look them up on the NYPL Gallery. Thanks so much!
